Mr Martin Kenyon

BChD, MSc, MFGDP (UK), PGCert

Born and educated in Lancaster, Martin studied his undergraduate dental degree at the University of Leeds. Following graduation in 1983, he moved to Lytham and after a brief period as an associate dentist established the Practice at its current premises in 1986.

 

During this initial period Martin began a research-based Master of Science degree at the University of Manchester supported by Johnson & Johnson graduating in 1989.

 

In 1988 he was appointed as one of the first Vocational Trainers for newly qualified dentists in the North West and at aged 25 remains one of the youngest to achieve this.

 

The role of a visiting lecturer at Blackpool and the Fylde College of Further Education was held between 1988 and 1996 which involved providing education on the dental nursing course.

 

He completed the two-year Regional Extended Orthodontic Course at Manchester University in 1996 throughout which period and a subsequent few years he volunteered as a clinical assistant based at Blackpool Victoria Hospital Orthodontic Department.

 

In 2001 he was appointed as the Manchester Deanery Postgraduate District Dental Tutor for North West Lancashire which involved organising postgraduate dental courses for dentists in the area.

 

A University Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Professional Practice was awarded in 2008 from the University of Central Lancashire following a one-year part time course.

 

He completed a Multi-System Implantology Course accredited by the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners (UK). A certificate being awarded in 2011.

 

He was elected as Chairman of the Fylde Section of the British Dental Association in 2002 and has sat as a member of numerous dental groups including the Local Dental Committee, District Dental Advisory Committee and currently is a member of the local Routine Care Network for NHS England.

 

Professional memberships include the British Dental Association, British Endodontic Society, British Orthodontic Society and the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners (UK).

 

Martin's areas of professional interest include endodontics and the restoration of badly broken-down teeth. Martin has known and treated the majority of his patients for over 30 years and very rarely takes on new patients unless there are unusual and interesting circumstances.

 

Over this period he has continued to expand and develop the practice.

 

He lives locally with his wife and enjoys travel, skiing and DIY in his spare time.
