Tooth Extraction

Unfortunately, teeth sometimes need to be removed. Most commonly this is because of decay, infection or gum disease, which means the tooth cannot be saved or is causing too much pain.

When you have your tooth taken out you will be given anaesthetic and shouldn't feel any pain, although it can be sore afterwards for up to several weeks if it was a particularly difficult or complex extraction. Extractions can sometimes understandably be traumatic, and we will do our best to make the procedure as comfortable as possible for you.

If it is a very complicated extraction, it may sometimes need to be referred to be completed at a local hospital.

Following the extraction you may choose to have a denture, bridge or implant to replace the missing tooth.
